José Antonio Bowen is dean of the Meadows School of the Arts, Algur H. Meadows Chair, and professor of music at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He has taught and been an administrator at Stanford University, the University of Southampton (England), Georgetown University, and Miami University, and has written over 100 scholarly articles and book chapters on topics related to music theory. Bowen is a pioneer in active learning and the use of technology in the classroom, including podcasts and online games, and has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, USA Today, US News and World Report, and on NPR.
